Welcome to the website dedicated to rugby's County Championship
The Bill Beaumont Cup - Pic: (c) RFU
The competition now known as the Bill Beaumont Cup has been competed for since 1889. As the game of rugby union has developed since the advent of professionalism, the County Championship has taken a back seat in the consciousness of the wider rugby public.
Playing for your county was the only route to an England shirt - nowadays it is the event that is tagged on to the end of a long hard season for part-time players at the pinnacle of club rugby in the National Leagues.
The intention of this website is to keep alive the County Championship by recording the details of the 2013 competition, and updating news of the event through the eyes of those involved.
Through time, I will be updating results for previous years. Where a fixture is underlined, you can click on the match details, where you will be taken to a match report (either copied from an RFU press release, or a contemporary newspaper report).
